On March 31, 2022, Recco Biologics, an investee company of Junlian Capital—a sub-fund backed by the mother fund managed by Yuanhe Chenchun Capital—officially listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange under the stock code 2179.HK, becoming Hong Kong’s "first HPV vaccine stock" and "first new adjuvant vaccine stock."
Founded in 2012, Rico Biologics is dedicated to the research, development, and commercialization of subunit vaccines. The company’s core scientific team boasts over 20 years of experience in innovating vaccine development and bringing cutting-edge products to market. Driven by advancements in novel adjuvant technologies, protein engineering, and immunological evaluation techniques, Rico Biologics has established a robust pipeline of 12 innovative vaccine candidates currently in development. These vaccines target major diseases with significant public health burdens, including cervical cancer, COVID-19, tuberculosis, shingles, hand-foot-and-mouth disease, and influenza—areas where domestic vaccine offerings have historically been limited.
In terms of pipelines, Recbio's several key products have made significant progress. The company's core product in Phase III clinical trials, the recombinant HPV 9-valent vaccine REC603, is poised to become the first domestically developed HPV 9-valent vaccine to receive approval. Additionally, the HPV vaccine production facility currently under construction at the company has the capacity to produce either 5 million doses of the HPV 9-valent vaccine annually or up to 30 million doses of the HPV 2-valent vaccine.
ReCOV, the COVID-19 vaccine, is also a core product of Recbio Biotech. The company plans to submit its EUA (Emergency Use Authorization) application for ReCOV within the year. Notably, ReCOV has already obtained a production license, signaling that large-scale commercialization is now fully prepared. Meanwhile, Phase I clinical trial data from New Zealand show that ReCOV achieved one of the highest levels of neutralizing antibody titers against COVID-19 globally.
This year, the company also plans to submit IND applications for three next-generation vaccine products: the new adjuvanted quadrivalent HPV vaccine REC604a, the new adjuvanted recombinant shingles vaccine REC610, and R520A, the world’s first lyophilized mRNA COVID-19 vaccine. Meanwhile, ReCO Biologics boasts internationally leading expertise in innovative vaccine adjuvants, placing it on par with all five FDA-approved novel adjuvants currently used in human vaccines.
In an era of soaring global demand for innovative vaccines, Recbio will accelerate the commercialization of its products in international markets through continuous innovation and collaborative partnerships worldwide, driving end-to-end value-chain innovation across the vaccine industry—from research and development to commercialization.
