Founded in 2015 and headquartered in Changzhou, Jiangsu, CATL Innovation originated from AVIC Lithium Battery, established in 2007 as a joint venture backed by China Aviation Industry Group Company and its affiliated entities. The company specializes in the design, R&D, manufacturing, and sales of power batteries and energy storage systems, and has emerged as the third-largest domestic producer of power batteries—behind only CATL and BYD.
CATL's main power battery products include high-voltage ternary batteries, "Magazine" batteries, full-pole ear stacked batteries, and its cutting-edge "One-Stop Battery" solution. Thanks to continuous technological innovation, CATL has become one of only two global companies capable of producing both lithium iron phosphate and ternary lithium batteries—and is now fully equipped to supply automakers with comprehensive battery solutions for all vehicle models. CATL is driving the iterative advancement of battery technology across multiple dimensions, including material innovation, structural innovation, system integration, and manufacturing excellence.
Currently, CATL Innovation has six major production bases in China, with an effective capacity of 35 GWh in 2022 and expected to reach 90 GWh in 2023. So far this year, CATL Innovation has already announced expansion plans in Guangdong Province, Fujian Province, Sichuan Province, and Hubei Province. Once all these projects are fully operational, the company will operate up to 10 production facilities dedicated to power batteries and energy storage systems, located in Changzhou, Luoyang, Xiamen, Chengdu, Wuhan, Hefei, Heilongjiang, Guangzhou, Jiangmen, and Meishan. According to the company’s roadmap, its target production capacity for power batteries is set to grow to 500 GWh by 2025, with an ambitious projection of reaching 1 TWh by 2030.
From the perspective of serving customers, CN Innovation has already partnered with nearly all major domestic new-energy vehicle companies, including GAC, XPeng, Changan, Leapmotor, Geely, Hozon, Dongfeng, Honda, SAIC-GM-Wuling, Chery, Ruichi, and Dongfeng Sokon, among others.
In the future, CATL Innovation will leverage its innovative DNA, technology leadership, and forward-looking strategic vision, guided by a culture of "value creation" and a broad-minded approach, to contribute to the achievement of China's "Dual Carbon" goals and help build a sustainable, green energy ecosystem.
