On July 2, 2021, the "Kunpeng Hui" ecosystem series event—featuring an "Industry Salon"—organized by Yuanhe Chencun was held at Dongsha Lake Fund Town. The event brought together nearly 10 investment firms and representatives from leading companies in the entertainment and cultural industries, fostering a collaborative discussion on the growth of the entertainment sector and the role of capital in driving its development.

This event features special guest appearances by three prominent investors: He Jia, Founding Partner of Nanshan Capital; Wang Weiwei, Managing Partner at Huaying Capital; and Li Weicai, Partner and COO at CMC Capital. Joining them are three industry leaders: Mao Panfeng, Founder of Liubai Film & TV; Cui Jia, Founder of Magic Cube Entertainment Group; and Yin Chunyang, General Manager of China United Ultra-High-Definition Collaborative Technology Center Co., Ltd. Together, they will share insights on topics such as "Investment and Empowerment in the Entertainment Industry" and "Development Paths and Business Models for the Entertainment Sector."

The "14th Five-Year Plan" period marks a critical juncture for fostering new growth drivers and elevating the quality of cultural consumption—while also presenting a strategic opportunity to guide the cultural industry’s transformation from rapid expansion toward high-quality development. During his keynote speech, He Jia, Founding Partner at Nanshan Capital, highlighted that the cultural sector is poised to enter a fresh era of unprecedented opportunities, driven by three key trends: First, the widespread adoption of cutting-edge technologies such as big data, AI, VR/AR, and cloud computing is accelerating the seamless integration of culture with technology. Second, as these innovations take root in the cultural industry, coupled with evolving consumer tastes and increasingly stringent regulatory frameworks, the push for high-quality content has become the dominant trend—fueling both platform user growth and revenue expansion. Finally, the emergence of premium content is breaking through traditional boundaries of time and space, enabling connections across diverse audiences and contexts, and paving the way for cross-platform and cross-sectoral innovation and monetization. This, in turn, positions the cultural industry as an "infinite game." Looking ahead, He Jia pointed out that the concept of the Metaverse—a topic frequently discussed by industry leaders in recent years—is now gaining momentum. With the gradual proliferation of powerful computing devices and enhanced network bandwidth, the conditions for realizing the Metaverse are rapidly maturing.

Wang Weiwei, Managing Partner at Huaying Capital, shared her thoughts on the power of culture. Although she has focused heavily on new consumer-sector projects over the past two years, incorporating cultural factors into her analysis has proven crucial for better distinguishing between strong and weak brands, understanding why certain brands resonate so deeply with consumers, and uncovering how they manage to connect with specific target audiences. After all, it’s precisely because of their cultural core that brands tap into people’s unique emotional needs—needs that, when met as genuine demands, ultimately give rise to exceptional products and companies. This, in turn, fosters the creation and dissemination of meaningful cultural content. As consumer experiences continue to expand across diverse settings, so too does the opportunity for brands to engage and inspire, further amplifying the reach and impact of cultural storytelling.

CMC Capital Partner and Chief Operating Officer Li Weicai delivered a keynote speech titled "Cultural Investment and Empowerment." Grounded in the transformative shifts within the cultural industry, CMC Capital focuses on the rise and diversification of new consumer groups, investing strategically in the convergence of cultural industries with tech-driven consumer trends. The firm continues to proactively position itself at the forefront of technological innovation and iteration. Using Suzhou as a case study, Li Weicai highlighted how capital is increasingly empowering the city’s cultural sector, aligning with emerging trends in urban development. Under the new policy landscape for the cultural industry, Suzhou is poised to seize a golden opportunity for cultural growth. By leveraging cutting-edge technologies and catering to evolving consumer preferences—particularly among younger, innovative audiences—CMC Capital is driving investment into emerging economic sectors centered around culturally rich, identity-driven, and authentically Jiangnan-inspired brand projects. This approach not only enhances Suzhou’s appeal as a hub for entrepreneurial talent and dynamic young consumers but also revitalizes the city’s overall vibrancy and competitiveness on the global stage.

Mao Panfeng, founder of Liu Bai Film & TV, shared insights into the future trends of the film and television industry. He emphasized that, in China, film and TV production differs significantly from consumer-facing businesses like movies or gaming—it’s inherently a business-to-business (To B) sector. At the downstream end, major players such as iQIYI and Tencent’s online video platforms dominate, making content selection critically important. Before 2015, film and TV projects primarily generated revenue by being sold to traditional TV stations or online platforms. However, looking ahead, the industry is shifting toward transforming these projects into distinct intellectual properties (IPs). After gaining visibility through broadcasts on TV networks or digital platforms, these IPs can then be leveraged across various offline and online channels—such as retail partnerships, animated adaptations, mobile games, and live-action performances—to unlock even greater opportunities for consumer engagement and market expansion.

Cui Jia, founder of Magic Cube Entertainment Group, shared insights on topics such as the live entertainment market and urban business models. Cui highlighted that, compared to the U.S., China's gaming market has already experienced a rapid boom, surpassing the U.S. in size and continuing to grow at an impressive pace. In the film industry, China entered its "golden decade" in 2017, and today, the market has already matched the scale of the U.S. Meanwhile, the online video sector—after initial growth driven by digital distribution channels and later fueled by independent content production from major streaming platforms—is now witnessing explosive expansion. As for live entertainment, which serves as a key pillar of mass entertainment, China has seen a surge in stadium and theater construction across major cities since 2009, coupled with a dramatic increase in both the variety and volume of performances starting in 2015. Now, the live entertainment industry is on the cusp of another major breakthrough—and compared to the U.S., it still boasts up to 10 times more room for growth.

Yin Chunyang, General Manager of China United Ultra-High Definition Collaborative Technology Center Co., Ltd., shared insights from the perspective of 5G + Ultra-High Definition, highlighting the critical role technology plays in driving the digital transformation of the cultural industry. In the 5G era, cutting-edge ultra-high-definition technologies led by 8K are delivering users an even more immersive "new visual" experience. With robust support from both government and industry, these advancements will further stimulate "new consumption" centered around premium content. For the entertainment sector, this translates into the emergence of more "new live experiences" powered by ultra-high-definition screens. Looking ahead, driven by broader industry growth, the 5G + 8K livestreaming ecosystem is poised to accelerate the commercialization of ultra-high-definition technologies.

This "Industry Salon" also brought together key players in Suzhou's local cultural and creative industries, including Suzhou Industrial Park New Era Group, Xinyuan Group, Hengtai Group, Suzhou Culture & Tourism Group, Yangcheng Peninsula Company, and relevant administrative departments. Additionally, prominent investment firms such as DT Capital, Qianhang Capital, and Liyuan Capital were in attendance. During the interactive discussion session, guests delved deeply into the topic of "Jiangnan Culture and the Evolving Cultural & Entertainment Consumption Needs of Park Residents," actively exploring innovative ways to leverage the cultural industry to empower, localize, and ultimately cluster more opportunities for Suzhou's growth in this vibrant sector.

"Kunpeng Hui" is a high-end industry event crafted by Yuanhe Chencun, designed as a flagship fund ecosystem that brings together LPs, GPs, innovative enterprises, and industry stakeholders. Each session focuses on trending industry sectors and emerging market opportunities, inviting renowned fund investors, corporate executives, and leading industry experts to continuously foster an open knowledge platform for the fund ecosystem itself, a robust connection hub linking capital providers with industry players, and a vibrant networking space where entrepreneurs and investors can collaborate and build meaningful relationships.
